As each of us and our families wrestle with the changes the coronavirus pandemic has brought our day-to-day lives, Youthfront offers the resources below.

Together in Prayer

The Youthfront Midday Prayer app is free (just download it from your device’s app store), and you can access a different devotion each day. If you would like to know you’re praying with others, begin your prayer time at 11:45 a.m. CDT and you will be joining our broad Youthfront community in prayer. If your family members attended Youthfront Camp or our other programs, they will be familiar with and comforted by these prayers.

Our staff is continuing our fixed hour prayer rhythm in this time – we’re connecting via the app and online platforms to pray together. Please know we are praying for you, our friends, partners, supporters and families. During this challenging time, our prayer practices have provided our staff with a sense of both calm and community. We hope you, your family and your church community will join us.

Is COVID-19 changing anything for Youthfront's summer programs or Camp?

Our current plan is for Youthfront Camp to be open this summer for youth and their families. Camp is part of our core mission, and now more than ever, we know how much kids need a connection with God and community.

While we’re excited to offer Camp, the health and safety of kids is and will always be our top priority. Although Kansas’ plans provide the opportunity for camps to re-open as part of Phase 3 currently anticipated June 15, our staff made the incredibly difficult decision to delay and re-open under what is anticipated will be Phase 4 guidelines. Our opening session is now scheduled to be Session 5, June 29. Learn more about Youthfront’s Health & Safety Guidelines HERE.

In addition to our traditional Camp experience later in the summer, in June we’re offering Family Getaways and Family Fun Day passes. We will also be offering a full Family Camp experience July 2-4, with more details to come.

Youthfront is offering new and small group Missional Journey options this summer, including sleep-at-home and day opportunities serving in the Argentine district of Kansas City, KS. If your youth group or family is seeking a local experience this summer, please explore our options or let us customize a plan just for you.

How else has this affected Youthfront as an organization?

Unfortunately, the pandemic hit us at our most financially vulnerable time in our budget cycle. This crisis has caused an extraordinary strain for our ministry, as the majority of our expenses for summer programs have already been incurred due to the costs of maintaining our facilities year-round, labor, curriculum, merchandise, products and printing, supplies, and more. All of our spring programs and ministry events, many of which provide offseason revenue, had to be canceled.

Our most significant challenge is the huge shortfall of program revenue that allows us to pay our amazing staff and, of course, our day-to-day operational bills. That has been devastating. We also incurred unexpected repair expenses at Camp LaCygne this year due to record levels of precipitation and a tornadic storm event on May 4.

What other Youthfront programs have been affected?

After an initial setback having to cancel our large group spring packing events, our Something to Eat™ meal packing program has been busy with families and households packing meals in small groups. The need for our meals has never been greater, so we’re appreciative of the donors and volunteers who’ve made it possible for us to provide thousands of meals to those facing hunger.

In addition, Youthfront partners with Harvesters for monthly food distribution in the Argentine neighborhood of KCK. Youthfront families and households have volunteered to make our food distributions possible in this difficult time.

As of the week of March 16, Snack Shack KC in Argentine is closed temporarily due to the local guidelines. Please keep the youth and families we serve there in prayer.

How can you help?

We deeply appreciate the prayers and support of our Youthfront friends, families and donors across the country. We remain hopeful that our ministries and programs can be restored quickly to meet what we know will be a serious need for everything from our Something to Eat™ meals to community-building and camp for our youth.

Our organization is 77 years old, and we have faith that our mission and ministry will survive this. We own our facilities and we have very little debt, which is a small mortgage on our main office. Our most significant challenge is the huge shortfall of program revenue caused by this pandemic – that is how we operate and pay our amazing staff.

We also incurred unexpected repair expenses at Camp LaCygne this year due to record levels of precipitation. Read more here.

Any financial support you can offer our organization in this time of drastic budget shortfalls would be a blessing. Donors can support our ministry in this time at
