Volunteer Opportunities at Youthfront

Youthfront is looking for volunteers to help us with our programs!

At Camp West and LaCygne, we are looking for individuals to come out and volunteer with us during the summer in a variety of areas:

Camp Opportunities (Summer only):

  • REGISTRATION DAY: With three camp locations running simultaneously, we are busy! We need volunteers to help us with the registration process at camp on Mondays! It’s a blast–you get to watch campers file in–the energy is contagious! Jobs include: helping campers get their wristbands, hosting the hospitality center (New this year) and helping at the Merchandise table! If you have time to come for 2 hours any Monday this summer, we can use YOU!
  • VOLUNTEER CABIN LEADERS: Each camp session we need Volunteer Cabin Leaders to come alongside our staff and minister to the youth who come through our camp. To apply or get more information go to youthfront.com/vcl.
  • LANDSCAPING: We need assistance to take care of our landscape. This may include pulling weeds, trimming areas or even maybe mowing. If you have a love for landscape, sign up today!
  • CLEANING: Our campgrounds get messy during the weeks of camp! Our teen staff could use some help keeping our grounds clean. If you don’t mind helping clean, we could use you!

Something to Eat Opportunities (Year-round):

  • WAREHOUSE: Come help in the warehouse. This is not for the weak of heart! We need help cleaning, moving bags of rice, soy, veggies, loading pallets and more!
  • CAMP FRIDAYS! Every Friday, our Something to Eat team heads out to Camp West to organize a packing event at camp! This is transformational for our campers and we need YOUR HELP this summer! If you have any interest in coming to camp, one or ten Fridays, let us know!
  • MOBILE FOOD DISTRIBUTION: Every 2nd Wednesday of the month, the Franklin Center mobilizes food distribution for the neighbors of Kansas City, Kansas. Volunteers are needed from 12:15-3:45. Join us!

Snack Shack (Year-round):

This is a youth run venture so your role will be to help the youth when needed, whether that is behind the counter serving at high traffic times or to step in and help resolve a conflict when needed.  Our goal for adult volunteers is to be a constant presence at the Snack Shack, whether you are volunteering twice/once a week or twice/once a month, we hope that each volunteer begins to get to know the kids that stop by either daily or weekly.  As a volunteer, you will be responsible for helping behind the counter at high traffic times and crowd control.  We also realize that there will be times you may have to step in and help resolve a conflict between students.  Most of the time you can plan to just hang out, play games, help with homework (if anyone decides to do homework).  Also, in an emergency situation, you may have to step in and lead.  See the following section for emergency procedures.

If you are interested in helping in one of these areas, fill out the volunteer application below and we will be in touch shortly!
