Morgan’s Story

My name is Morgan Koca, and I am going to be a sophomore at Mill Valley High School this upcoming school year. I camped at Youthfront Camp LaCygne for Session 0. I have always gone to church and have grown up in a Christian family. God has always been a huge part of my life. I was baptized at a young age and have let God lead my life since then.

This year was my first year attending a Youthfront Camp. My friends who went to Youthfront Camp West a few years back told me all about their experience and about how I HAD to go, so I did! Youthfront brought many fun memories, experiences, and friendships into my life. One of my favorite aspects of Youthfront was how the camp strengthened my friendships more than I thought was possible. I came to Youthfront with three of my friends who I was sort of close with before, but since leaving the camp, we have become inseparable. We even have a group chat named “The God Squad.” I would have never imagined becoming this close to others after just one camp experience together.

The messages and sermons at Youthfront were something that stood out to me. They encouraged me to forgive others even when they did me wrong. Also, I feel that since I’ve been home, I have felt God working in my heart. I feel that it is easier for me to be kind to all those around me and love everyone. I don’t think it would’ve been this way had I not gone to Youthfront. I feel that God’s love is overflowing in my heart and it will continue to be that way for a long time to come.

One of my absolute favorite things from camp was my amazing leader, Elizabeth! From the start of the camp, she was always so positive and kind to me, the girls in my cabin, and everyone she encountered at the camp. She was always a smiling face when everything was going wrong. For example, when there was a “hurricane” outside and a code yellow was issued, all the girls in my cabin were super bummed because the water activities were under water. She was right there leading us to zumba, trying to cheer us up. She is just such a kind friend and person to look up to, and I know it was God’s plan for me to encounter her. Youthfront is so lucky to have her!

All in all, Youthfront is an experience I will never forget. It pushed me to connect with God and took my friendships to places they have never been before. Youthfront is something every Christian should get the chance to be a part of. Thank you, Youthfront. I can’t wait for next year!
