What do you say when your child doesn’t make the team? When they’re excluded from a birthday party? When hard work didn’t earn them a high grade? When an honor or award goes to someone else?

How should parents walk their kids through moments of sadness and disappointment? This YF Family session will help parents better understand emotional states and the most important things we can do as parents when our children face difficulties. Join YF Family’s Jamie Roach and a panel of colleagues from Mid-America Nazarene University’s counseling program for practical advice and tools for showing empathy, building resilience and helping your child through life’s inevitable challenges.

About Jamie:

Jamie has served on the staff of Youthfront for 33 years, working with students, parents and youth workers. His passion is seeing people formed into the image of Jesus Christ. Jamie is an author, communicator and spiritual director. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling. Jamie loves Nebraska football, reading and hanging out with his family. Jamie and Lea Ann have four adult children, Megan, Haley, Logan and Sophie.
