CAMP 101

Sending your child to camp is fun and exciting, and we know it helps to have even your smallest questions answered. If you don’t find your answer here, please contact our office and our staff will be happy to help you.

REGISTRATION

Register your camper(s) for camp by accessing or creating an online account for your family. Click the “Register for Camp” button in the sidebar to access your existing account or create a new account. We recommend using Google Chrome as your browser on a desktop or laptop computer because it is the most compatible with our system.

If you have questions on our registration process, check out our Camper Registration Guide HERE.

The grades listed for camp sessions represent the grade that campers will be in in the Fall, after camp is over. When setting up a new camper account, enter the grade they will be in the following school year because it is the most compatible with our system.

Click on the “forgot password” button and you will receive an email with a temporary password that will be sent to you overnight. You may also contact us at (913) 262-3900 or info@youthfront.com, and we will be happy to remind you of your username and reset your password.

For your convenience, Youthfront is now able to offer automated payment plans to fit within your budget. Contact our Administrative Staff at info@youthfront.com or 913-262-3900 to find out more and set up a plan that works for your family.

You can log into your account at any time and make changes to most information for you, your camper, and emergency contacts. If you are unable to make a desired change, please contact us at or (913) 262-3900 or info@youthfront.com.

With the uncertainty of raising kids who have sports, family gatherings, vacations, and all this in a Covid-19 world, knowing that you can cancel your camp registration for a full refund gives you the peace-of-mind to reserve your spot at camp. Once you have purchased the plan, any funds you pay from that point forward are protected for the remaining camp season. The refund coverage of the Camp Protection Plan remains in effect from the date you purchase the plan until three days before your child’s camp session.

When the schedule states “Reserved,” it means that a group (or multiple groups) have reserved all spots for that session. Non “Reserved” sessions often have a blend of public spots as well as groups that have reserved spots.  If you know that you are part of a group that has made a reservation, you will need to contact your group leader for your Group ID.

Once a session of camp is full for a specific gender, we will accept a limited number of waiting list reservations. After your camper is assigned to a waiting list, one of the following will happen:

1) If a spot opens up because another camper cancels or transfers sessions, we will contact you about moving to registered status.

2) For overnight camp, if a spot does not open up, your camper may still be able to attend camp if he or she is willing to sleep on a cot in their cabin. This is a common occurrence and is usually not a big deal to the camper because they still get to be at camp with their friends. For Day Camp, if a spot does not open up, your camper may still be able to attend camp if you are able to provide transportation each day directly to and from camp rather than riding the bus from the drop-off/pick-up location.

3) If we are over capacity, we will offer you the opportunity to transfer to another session of camp.

If these scenarios are an option, we will contact you 1-2 weeks prior to your session of camp. You must respond to our email or phone call within 5 business days to let us know if you want to remain in the session.

* Please note that a deposit is required to reserve your place on the waiting list, but it is fully refundable if we are not able to move your camper off the waitlist.

Yes. Once your campers are enrolled, proceed to the payment screen or go to the Financial section of your Camper Registration Dashboard. Click the names of the campers on your account that you would like to pay for and they will be totaled in one transaction.

The balance of your camper’s session is due 14 days prior to the session. As space is limited and some sessions will have waiting lists, registrants with outstanding balances on the due date may forfeit their camp reservation. Please contact us if you need to discuss your account.

A deposit is required to secure your session of camp. This deposit is non-refundable. The full balance of your payment is due no later than 14 days prior to your session of camp. Failure to make full payment by this date may forfeit your reservation. If you cancel at least 14 days prior to your session, you are eligible to receive a refund of all monies paid other than the deposit. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to your session, the deposit will be forfeited and the additional monies paid will be non-refundable but may be transferred to another individual or to another Youthfront program, for use by August 31 of the same calendar year. Any remaining funds not used by August 31 of the same calendar year will be forfeited in full. The Camp Protection Plan is an optional purchase that allows you to cancel your camper’s registration up to 2 days before the session for a full refund.

If your camper attends as part of a reserved group of 16 or more campers, each camper will receive a discount off their cost of camp. You must have a Group ID provided from your group leader in order to receive this discount.

If three or more campers from your family register to attend camp, each camper after the second camper will receive a $50 discount. Please contact us at (913) 262-3900 if you qualify for this discount.

Financial Assistance is available for those who qualify. Find out more and apply here.

It is totally up to you! In our Snack Shop, your camper can purchase snacks, drinks, and Youthfront merchandise. Food and drinks are generally $1-4, and all of our merchandise is $29 or less. All items are taxed. During your camper’s session, you can access your account, look at their transaction, and add more Camp Bucks if needed. If your camper does not spend all their Camp Bucks, you may request a refund here. At the end of the summer, all remaining Camp Bucks will be donated to Youthfront’s Camp Ministry.

Care Packages are Youthfront “goodie bags” that you may purchase for your camper, and will be delivered during their session of camp. Care Packages contain a variety of items such as Snack Shop coupons, a shirt, and other gifts. Care Packages may only be purchased through your online account. Starting in the spring, you can purchase a Care Package by using the Additional Items button in the Enrollment section of your Camper Registration Dashboard. Photos and descriptions of Care Package contents can be found here.

Recently, our registration system implemented enhanced security measures for the payment process. As a result, users attempting to make a payment while using a workplace computer or network may be unable to complete the transaction online. If this applies to you, we recommend the following workarounds:

  • Use a personal device that is not connected to your workplace network to make the payment.
  • Disconnect from your workplace Wi-Fi or disable your VPN, then try logging in again to complete the payment.

Additionally, you may need to clear your browser cache and reload the login page before attempting to process the payment.

Youthfront has multiple emergency preparedness plans covering a wide range of scenarios including lightning, fire, tornado, or medical incidents. Staff members train for responding to each, including hands-on drills for multiple scenarios. In addition, our staff pay close attention to weather conditions and follow protocols to ensure that campers and staff remain safe.

Camper safety is our highest priority, and Youthfront is committed to consistent communication with families during each session of camp. Parents will receive regular email updates, and in the case of an emergency, you can expect to receive further communication via email, and possibly text messaging, when necessary.

The street address is 22626 E 2400th Rd, Lacygne, KS 66040.

Several weeks prior to your camper’s session, we will send you an email with this information. You can also find a PDF version of this information on your Camper Registration Dashboard, in the Download Forms tab of the Forms section.  We encourage you to print or save this document as a helpful guide before your camper goes to camp.

We will begin to send you important updates and reminders in the spring before the camp season begins. You will receive notifications about your remaining balance, required forms, check-in and bus information and more. We rely on email to communicate with you so please make sure that the primary email on your account is up to date.

Yes! We send emails to parents and grandparents with photos and highlights several times during your session. Please make sure that your email is up to date in your account to receive these emails. In addition, we provide daily updates, news stories and photo albums for each day on our Youthfront app. You will receive information and log-in instructions for the app in our pre-camp communications.

Our activities include swimming pool, waterslide, Splash Park (inflatables on the lake), the Blob, paddle boats, canoes, gaga ball, basketball, outdoor games, crafts, and more.

Day Campers typically arrive at Camp LaCygne at 9am. Campers spend the morning enjoying water activities (pool, waterslide, Splash Park, Blob and lake). Campers gather for chapel time at 11:45 and then eat lunch in the dining hall. After lunch, campers have chapel time and then rotate through small group activities, games and crafts exploring the theme of the Bible story. Schedules may be adjusted for weather.

Day Campers can bring their own lunch or can purchase lunch, which will be served cafeteria-style in our dining hall. Lunch orders for the week should be placed by the Monday of camp check-in on your camper account dashboard.

If you need to pick up your camper early, we ask that you go to the camp office to check them out first. Please bring a photo ID with you. If the person picking up your camper is someone other than the guardian who signed the Medical Form, please have a written note from that guardian giving us permission to release your camper to them. It is helpful if you call us ahead of time to let us know you will be picking up your camper.

We ask that all medications stay with our Wellness Director in the camp office. If your camper takes any daily/regular medications, please print and fill out the Medication Instructions form found in the Forms section of your Camper Registration Dashboard. At check-in, we will have a station to turn in the form, medications, and speak to our Wellness Director. Please contact us for more information.

We are very familiar with common food allergies and do our best to keep your camper safe and healthy during their stay at camp. In the Medical section of your Camper Registration Dashboard, please note your camper’s food allergies. While we cannot accommodate everything, we are able to provide gluten and dairy free options at meals for those who need it. You must indicate on your camper medical form if your camper is allergic to gluten or dairy so we know how much food to prepare. A list of camper allergies is given to our kitchen staff the week prior to each camp session. Our dining hall is completely peanut free, and we offer refrigerator space for campers that need to bring special food and meals. If you have specific questions about the food menu or other concerns, please contact us at (913) 262-3900 or info@youthfront.com.

If your child has a specific medical need requiring extra care at camp, please contact us at 913-262-3900 or info@youthfront.com. We will discuss options with you to ensure that Youthfront Camp is the best fit to keep your child safe.

Youthfront cannot take responsibility for giving injections, measuring for injections, or giving medical care beyond what we are trained or authorized to do. However, this should not necessarily keep a camper from attending. What it does mean is that Youthfront leadership will have to work with both parents and campers in advance to make specialized arrangements for medical treatment. Many times campers are capable of self-injecting. We can offer support by keeping the medication in a safe place, give reminders, and have an adult present at the time of injection. We have also worked with parents to create a system whereby a parent or nurse can come down to camp each day to administer the injection. Please contact the camp office at least one month prior to your camper’s session to discuss options (camp@youthfront.com or 913-262-3900). Arrangements must be made well in advance for us to accommodate campers requiring injections.

We ask that you please do not mail letters or packages to camp. We often have mail arrive for campers after their session of camp ends. In the spring, we offer Care Packages for purchase through our registration system.

Yes, you are welcome to register your camper for multiple sessions during the summer. However, we do want you to know that our curriculum is a one-week curriculum used throughout the summer. While your camper will be hearing the same stories and doing similar activities at each session, we do our best to provide some fresh experiences for returning campers.

We understand that in signing your child up for a session of camp, you are placing a great deal of trust in Youthfront and our staff. We aim to provide a positive and encouraging experience for every camper. In order to meet this goal, we have high standards for the staff and volunteers who make the summer possible.

In order to be hired as a seasonal Summer Staff member at Youthfront Camp, each candidate must complete:

  • In-depth interviews with members of our full-time staff team
  • Reference checks
  • Mandated background checks
  • Child Protection Policies & Safety Procedures training

All hired Summer Staff receive intensive, dedicated onsite job-specific training. These staff also work closely with supervisors and full-time staff members throughout the summer. Youthfront provides comprehensive training ranging from specific job skills to emotional intelligence to emergency preparedness and response.

Youthfront counts on caring adult volunteers to help provide our camping programs. Often, these are parents, grandparents or youth ministry volunteers who give of their time to help come alongside our Summer Staff leaders during the camp session. While these adults help us meet our required child/ adult ratios, they have the opportunity to experience all the fun, learning and joy of camp. In order to be accepted as a Youthfront Volunteer, each candidate must complete:

  • Online application
  • Mandated background check
  • Reference checks
  • Video trainings prior to arriving at camp
  • In-person orientation and job-specific training from full-time staff members
  • Child Protection Policies & Safety Procedures training

In terms of water safety, all campers are required to wear a life jacket at all times while participating in lake activities (Splash Park, Blob, boats, etc.) Life jackets are available at the pool for those who are not confident swimmers. All of Youthfront’s water attractions have the oversight of certified lifeguards.

We’re proud of our staff and volunteer training and our protocols, and we are happy to answer any questions.

We have air conditioned cabins at both of our camp locations. There are bathrooms and showers in each cabin, and campers sleep on bunk beds. Campers should bring a sleeping bag or bedding for a twin-size bed.

You may request up to 3 Cabin Mates for your camper. We do our best to ensure that each camper is with at least one of their requested cabin mates. Please note that any additions or changes to requests within 2 weeks of your session of camp may not be honored. Cabin assignments will be emailed to you 3 days before your camper’s session begins. On the first day of the camp session, our Cabin Leaders will take measures to ensure that campers are settled comfortably in their rooms.

Our activities include: swimming pool, waterslide, Splash Park (inflatables on the lake), the Blob, paddle boats, canoes, sand volleyball, disc golf, basketball, Nerf Wars, crafts, and more. In addition to all of this, we have themes each night called HYPE, and encourage campers to dress up for our themed games and activities!
