Bringing a baby home will strain even the strongest relationships. Lack of sleep, mounting housework, and added financial responsibility can all lead to increased stress and a decline in martial satisfaction – all of which make it increasingly difficult to care for your new baby.
This 4-week workshop for new parents will prepare you to face the challenges by weaving together content and experiences informed by the latest from interpersonal neurobiology, attachment science, developmental psychology, and classical Christian thought and practices.
New parents will learn to be present to God, themselves and their family. We’ll cover how to stay calm even when the baby isn’t, how to connect with your child’s heart, and how to adapt as your baby grows. With ample space for reflection and questions, our time together will be tailored to the needs and questions of the group.
Facilitators: Youthfront staff members Jamie and Lea Ann Roach are the parents of four grown children and grandparents to two beautiful grand babies. Jamie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Lea Ann is a certified Spiritual Director.

Course Overview
Week 1: The Wisdom of our Bodies. We will discuss polyvagal theory and explain why it is the healthy soil from which healthy, happy children grow.
Week 2: The Whole Brained Child. We will discuss why our kids do not care what you know (or say) until they know (in their bodies) that you care.
Week 3: How to Connect with Your Baby’s Heart. We will talk about the importance of being a safe base from which your child can explore and return.
Week 4: The Essential Building Blocks of Healthy Children. In the first few years, children develop the mental maps they will follow for the rest of their lives. We will discuss how to help your children develop healthy internal working models and avoid getting lost.
