I began my relationship with Youthfront during the summer of 2020 as the lunch cook at Camp LaCygne. That summer had a profound impact on me that has continued to echo through my life to this day. After leaving camp for the last time that summer, I intentionally found a job that would allow me to easily step away and return to camp the next summer. Little did I know that the next few years of my life would follow a similar rhythm. After seeking guidance from the Lord and a handful of mentors, I felt a calling in my heart toward this line of ministry. In the summer of 2023, I decided I wanted to go all in and work in outdoor ministry year-round. Around that time, Youthfront asked me to apply for a new position that had just opened up, and I knew I had to go for it. I became the Program Coordinator for Camp LaCygne in January of 2024, and I could not be more grateful and excited about this opportunity.
Summer Staffing taught me a great deal about what it means to live in community with others. Each summer, I was given the opportunity to invest in a group of other young adults from all different walks of life. I learned a lot about walking with them in loyalty, faith, and understanding. It was a deeply transformative experience for me, and I certainly would not be the person I am today without it. While I was on Summer Staff, I was blessed to experience an example of a Christ-like community, and I can’t think of a better culture to impart on other young adults who are coming out of high school and college years. Transitioning into early adulthood after adolescence is a challenge that many young adults are not well-equipped for. As Program Coordinator, a big part of my ministry will be walking alongside our Summer Staff and helping to nurture a sense of community and faith amongst them. I am committed to creating a space where all students find belonging and community in Christ.
Part of my responsibilities at Youthfront include raising support for the ministry and a portion of my salary. I am excited to bring others into the ministry and share what God has in store for this community by finding individuals interested in partnering with me in prayer, community, and financial support.
