SUMMER STAFF POSITIONS

Youthfront Camp hires three different types of Summer Staff positions. We also have supervisor roles for college students.

As a community...

our entire Summer Staff operates with a servant leadership mentality. Though hired for specific jobs, we ask staff to serve the camp through a variety of other tasks outside their role.

DAY CAMP LEADER

Day Camp Leaders work directly with 1st - 5th grade Day Campers in small groups assigned at the beginning of the week. They get to know each Day Camper and help lead activities each day. Lifeguard certification is encouraged, and Youthfront will provide training.

OVERNIGHT CABIN LEADER

Cabin Leaders are relational ministers to campers in the overnight and day camp programs. Each Cabin Leader works alongside one or more co-leaders and is assigned a group of approximately 16 to 20 campers each session. Cabin Leaders take on three primary roles: A) Spiritual Mentor - guide campers through their daily camp experience, engaging them in a story from scripture and hosting interactive experiences. B) Relational Minister - spend the majority of the day building relationships, showing God's love, and being intentionally present during playful activities, meals, and unstructured hangout times. C) Big Sibling - be the adult in charge, ensuring campers are on time in the right location, using sunscreen, staying hydrated, attending to needs, etc. Experience volunteering or working with children or youth in a ministry setting is preferred but not required.

PROGRAM STAFF

Program Staff operate and lead all camp programs, features, and activities. Throughout the day, Program Staff members help set up and run worship gatherings, free time and evening activities, check-in/check-out, and other administrative tasks of the camp. In addition to these tasks, we hire each Program Staff member for a specific job.

Program Staff Positions

Collaborates with the Hospitality Manager and Teen Staff in the preparation of meals and organization within the kitchen. Responsible for preparing one meal a day and fulfilling other Program Staff responsibilities throughout the rest of the day. Experience in meal preparation and knowledge of food safety is preferred, but not required. ServSafe Certification provided.

Collaborates with the Hospitality Manager and Teen Staff to ensure the daily setup and clean up of the Kitchen and Dining Hall. Outside of meal/cleaning times this position fulfills other Program Staff responsibilities. Some meal preparation may also be required. Some heavy lifting is involved. ServSafe Certification provided.

Works with Camp Managers and Facilities Associates to keep facilities running smoothly. No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided for mechanical, lawn, and facilities maintenance. Some heavy lifting involved. Applicants should enjoy working with their hands and being outside. This position features an increased pay scale.

Supervise waterfront areas and help maintain a safe and clean environment for our guests (areas include the Blob, pool, waterslide, and Splash Park) in addition to other program staff responsibilities. Current Red Cross Senior Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR required. (Training can be provided by Youthfront) This position features an increased pay scale.

In addition to other lifeguard duties, responsible for planning the Summer Staff and Teen Staff lifeguarding schedules and leading orientation for lifeguards and waterfront lookouts each week. Must have current lifeguard certification for the entire summer season. Previous lifeguarding experience at Youthfront Camp is preferred. This position features an increased pay scale.

Facilitate and lead daily themed activities as well as act as emcee throughout the day with various programs. Good stage presence, improvisational skills, and high energy required. Previous Summer Staff and performing arts experience preferred.

Serve as camp receptionist for one shift during the day, doing general office work and some basic record keeping. Office hosts assist in one of two other Program Staff roles: Wellness Assistant or Program Staff Assistants. First year PreMed, Nursing, or First Responder student preferred (not required) for Wellness Assistant. Program Staff Assistants may be required to do some heavy lifting.

Oversee the campus during overnight hours (approx 11pm – 7am) and do some general clean-up of facilities during the night. Other program responsibilities will be required in the late afternoon/evenings.

Assist various aspects of the camp program including indoor and outdoor games, the waterslide, the Snack Shop, Wellness Center, and capturing visual media. Lifeguard certification is a plus, and training can be provided by Youthfront.

Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the Snack Shop and Game Room. Oversee daily sales, the operation of registers, and inventory. Facilitate an environment of warmth and welcome for campers and guests. Train and supervise four to six Teen Staff weekly to run the Snack Shop and Game Room. Customer service or retail experience is a plus, and some heavy lifting is involved. ServSafe Certification provided.

This role serves as a visual storyteller, capturing images for all of Youthfront’s communications platforms. This role will be the primary photographer providing content and images for the YF app and communications, video/b-roll, and working with the marketing team to capture interviews, stories, social media and other projects as assigned. Internship possibility for media, film, or communications majors.

Oversee music during morning and evening worship gatherings, daily offices of prayer, and staff worship gatherings. Responsibilities include: building a worship team and organizing rehearsals, selecting music and set lists, equipping other musicians to lead, and organizing and maintaining sound and music equipment. Experience in leading worship is a requirement; experience leading worship for children and teenagers and using Planning Center is a plus.

SUMMER STAFF SUPERVISOR ROLES

Summer Staff Alumni going in their Junior/Senior year of college are preferred for these positions.

Assist the Cabin Leader Program Director in the training and pastoral care of the Cabin Leaders. Help facilitate Cabin Leader meetings and spiritual formation as well as some cabin experiences for campers. Act as a liaison between Volunteer Cabin Leaders and Summer Staff. Assist in recruiting Volunteer Cabin Leaders. Previous Youthfront Summer Staff experience and cabin leading experience preferred.

Help coordinate administrative tasks associated with the camp program. Regularly directs media from the sound shelf during gatherings and HYPE events. Assists with leading Program Staff spiritual formation. An aptitude for operating sound, media, and lighting equipment is preferred. Previous Summer Staff experience and ability to lead peers is preferred.

This person works closely with the Day Camp Program Director helping to facilitate the Day Camp program. Responsibilities include organizing supplies, activity setup/teardown, and making adjustments to the daily schedule as necessary. Comfortability being in front of groups of children is preferred. Lifeguard certification is a plus, and Youthfront will provide training.

Assist the High School Ministries Director with the recruiting and leadership of our high school Teen Staff. Help plan and lead Teen Staff gatherings and events. Maintain rules and cleanliness of the Teen Staff living quarters. Previous Youthfront Summer Staff experience preferred. For more information about Teen Staff, go here: www.youthfront.com/teenstaff.

Administer first aid, campers’ prescription and over the counter medicines, as well as organize medical forms, communicate with parents regarding camper care, and assist in program and office duties. Collaborate with the Overnight Director to assist in emergency procedures that may arise. Red Cross adult & pediatric First Aid CPR/AED certification (or approved equivalent) is required, Registered Nurse is a plus. Depending upon qualifications, pay is negotiable.
