SNACK SHACK KC

Created by Youthfront Neighborhood’s first ImagineX cohort, Snack Shack KC is a youth-run hangout where Argentine teens find belonging after school.

What we do at Snack Shack KC

Snack Shack KC is a youth-run, after-school space in the Argentine neighborhood where teens can belong, be known by name, and lead. Volunteers serve alongside student staff to keep the counter running, host the room, and help create a safe, joyful atmosphere.

How Snack Shack KC Started

The Snack Shack began eight years ago when Argentine teens dreamed up a safe, welcoming “third space” where they can connect with others outside of their home or school. Watch the story of how students turned imagination into a space for belonging.

Volunteer with Snack Shack KC

Snack Shack KC thrives because of caring volunteers who help create a fun, safe, and welcoming space for teens in the Argentine neighborhood. Whether serving behind the counter or mentoring students, every volunteer plays a vital role in building community and belonging.

Snack Bar Assistant
Be a friendly face for student customers! Help with simple snack preparation, serve ice cream and drinks, and run the register. Keep the counter and café area clean—wipe tables, sweep, take out trash, and help maintain a welcoming environment. No experience needed—just a cheerful attitude and a willingness to serve.
Snack Shack Mentor
Walk into the Snack Shack with an open heart, ready to connect with teens. Mentors are an extension of the Youthfront Neighborhood team—offering presence, encouragement, and guidance. Mentors may also start clubs or activities that align with their own passions and skills, helping students explore new interests and friendships.
