What does it mean to be a Senior Leader?

The Senior Leadership program is designed for students who are ready to go above and beyond, leaving Teen Staff better than they found it. From helping lead your peers and taking on additional responsibilities to contributing ideas before the summer even begins, Senior Leaders play an important role in shaping the culture of Teen Staff.

“The best part about Senior Leadership was the opportunity to lead with my camp best friends for an entire summer. I loved being given the opportunity to help make the summer fun for everyone, including myself. Leadership gave me a sense of place and purpose at camp and was an extremely rewarding and enjoyable experience.” + “I learned how to successfully lead and make a positive and lasting impact on those around me. I also learned how the camp community is truly one big family where everyone is welcome. It’s a unique experience that is entirely worthwhile.”

Teen Staff Leaders - The Pillars of our Community!

As a leader, you help build community, support younger staff, and model what it looks like to serve with humility, creativity, and leadership. You play an important part in making camp a place where everyone can belong, grow in their faith, and thrive.

"My favorite part of Senior Leadership was the opportunity to connect with everyone at camp as well as being a person that anyone can go to." + "During Senior Leading, I learned the importance of including everyone as well as forming Christ-centered friendships with everyone around me."

Senior Leader

What To Expect

Senior Leaders take on a wide variety of responsibilities throughout the year. Including:

  • Helping lead spiritual formation at camp
  • Advocating for the needs of the community
  • Supporting Teen Staff Supervisors to create a smooth, positive experience for all students

What You'll Gain

Senior Leadership is a highly sought-after role that offers exclusive opportunities to build a close-knit community. Participants attend events like “Week Zero,” arriving early for training, decorating, and connecting with Summer Staff. Upon graduation, students leave with letters of recommendation, transferable job experience, and valuable soft skills to support them in future endeavors.

Back Seat Middle

Senior Leaders embrace the “Back Seat Middle” lifestyle, putting them at the heart of Teen Staff. Beyond the summer, they’re invited to finish their senior year at events while helping the next class of leaders step into their role.

“Working with the Senior Leaders is a total highlight of my summers spent at camp. Providing a space where they can lift their voices to make the Teen Staff program a better place is a real privilege. I’m honored to be able to work alongside them for their final year of Teen Staff before they join our Summer Staff community.” – Kopaska
