Ross Baker is a Teen Staffer at both Youthfront Camp West and Youthfront Camp LaCygne. Ross has worked on dish side with the kitchen crew and as a ranger this summer. He took a few minutes to share some of his story with us.

Q: How did you find out about Youthfront?
A: My church has been going for a long time, because my mom went as a kid and she recommended it to our church about 16 years ago.

Q: What has been your favorite thing that you have done this week as a Teen Staffer?
A: I love my job so much, and I love serving the Lord but also serving this camp because it is so great. I also love connecting with the guys and everyone, having deep and meaningful conversations–those are so powerful to me because I love to hear about their stories and their struggles.

Q: Can you describe your experience living among fellow Teen Staff?
A: Living with the guys is definitely a huge highlight. Everyone just plays off of each other, and we are like one big family.

Q: What is your favorite memory as a Teen Staffer? How about as a camper?
A: I think last year when my friend Nate blobbed me twenty-five feet in the air is one of my favorites! But some of my favorite memories as a camper were definitely being with my cabin leaders.

Q: What have you learned about Luke 15 this week that you are able to carry into your own life?
A: There are things that I struggle with a lot and I have the tendency to tell myself that, “There’s no coming back. There’s no way God could accept me for what I did.” But Luke 15 shows me that God loves me for who I am, and nothing I could ever do–no sin I ever do–will overcome His love for me.

Q: If you could describe your faith in one word, what would it be and why?
A: Maybe about a year ago, I would have said shabby. But now it’s pretty tight. I think my faith is pretty tight right now with God, not just because I’m at camp and I have the “camp high,” but because I am learning so much more about apologetics, and about God, and why I’m a Christian.
